At FaceThyFear, we believe in the power of transformation—moving from darkness to light, from wreckage to renewal. The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous offer a time-tested roadmap for breaking free from addiction and reclaiming life. Here’s our take on these steps, reworded to fit the heart of our movement.
Step 1: Admit the Truth
We recognize that alcohol (or any addiction) has taken control, leaving our lives unmanageable. Facing our fear means acknowledging that we can’t win this battle alone.
Step 2: Seek Strength Beyond Ourselves
We come to believe that a greater power—something bigger than us—can restore the life we thought was lost.
Step 3: Surrender and Trust
We make the choice to turn our will and our lives over to this higher power, trusting that we don’t have to carry this burden alone.
Step 4: Face the Mirror
We take a deep, fearless look at ourselves, honestly reflecting on our past actions, patterns, and the damage done.
Step 5: Speak the Truth
We admit our mistakes, not just to ourselves, but to someone we trust and to the higher power we’ve come to believe in.
Step 6: Prepare for Change
We become fully ready to let go of the self-destructive habits, thoughts, and behaviors that have kept us trapped.
Step 7: Ask for Transformation
With humility, we ask for help in removing the flaws that hold us back from becoming our best selves.
Step 8: Make Things Right in Our Hearts
We list the people we’ve hurt and prepare to make things right, understanding that healing requires action.
Step 9: Make Amends Where Possible
We take direct steps to repair the harm we’ve caused, except when doing so would cause more pain.
Step 10: Keep the Mirror Clear
We continue to reflect on our actions daily, admitting when we’re wrong and making things right before resentment builds.
Step 11: Stay Connected
Through prayer, meditation, or personal reflection, we strengthen our bond with our higher power, seeking guidance and clarity in our journey.
Step 12: Share the Light
Having experienced a powerful change, we commit to helping others, showing by example that recovery is possible and life is worth living.
At FaceThyFear, we live by these principles—not just as steps, but as a way of life. Whether you’re just starting or years into your journey, you are not alone. Every day is a chance to move forward, one step at a time.
